FAQs

Setup, onboarding & Google questions

Getting your new website set up, found on Google and ready for customers, from the information we need to what happens after launch.

How do I get my local business to show up on Google search?

To show up on Google, your website needs to be fast, mobile-friendly and clearly about your services and your town. We build your town and service names into your page titles and headings, and every website is optimised for your top 10 search terms. Our Get on Google SEO package also submits your site to Google and sets up your Google Business Profile.

Is SEO included when you pay someone to build a website?

Basic on-page SEO should always be included in a good website build, and it is in ours. Every website we build has a proper heading structure, fast mobile performance, clean web addresses, structured data and a sitemap. Submitting the site to Google and Bing is part of our Get on Google SEO package.

What makes a website mobile friendly for Google?

A mobile-friendly website adjusts its layout to fit any screen, with readable text and buttons that are easy to tap. Google mainly looks at the mobile version of your site when deciding how to rank it, so this matters more than how it looks on a computer.

How long does it take for a new website to rank on Google?

A new website can appear on Google within days or weeks of being submitted, but ranking well usually takes a few months. It depends on competition for your search terms and how established your business is online. A fast, well-structured site and a Google Business Profile help you get there sooner.

How many pages should a small business website have for SEO?

Three well-planned pages are a solid start for most small businesses: a home page, a services page and a contact page. That is what our £350 package includes. As your business grows, adding a separate page for each main service or area you cover can help you appear in more searches.

Can I keep my existing phone number and email when changing websites?

Yes, you keep your phone number and business email when you change websites. A new website doesn't affect your phone line or your email inbox, such as Google Workspace or Outlook. We take care with your domain's settings so email keeps working.

Do I need to buy my own domain name or will you buy it for me?

We register your domain name for you as part of the package, in your business's name, so you own it. If you already have a domain, we can use that instead. Either way you are never locked in to us.

What information do I need to give a web designer to start?

To start, you only need your logo, a list of your services, your contact details and some photos. You don't need any technical information. See our starter checklist. No logo yet? We offer logo design from £50, and if you need photos we can take them anywhere in Blackpool for £50.

Can I look at my website before it goes live to the public?

Yes, you see your website on a private preview link before it goes live. You can check it on your phone and computer and ask for changes before your domain name is connected.

Will a static website work with my Google Business Profile?

Yes, a static website works perfectly with your Google Business Profile. Your profile links to your website, and a fast, clear website gives customers who find you on Google Maps a good reason to get in touch.

Do small business websites need a privacy policy to be legal?

If your website collects personal information, such as through a contact form, UK data protection law (UK GDPR) requires you to tell people how you use it, usually in a privacy notice. It is good practice for any business website to have one, and we can add a simple privacy page to your site.

What makes a website layout look trustworthy to new customers?

A trustworthy website uses real photos, clear contact details, clear prices and genuine customer reviews. Avoiding generic stock photos, keeping the text clean and readable, and making sure the site loads quickly all build confidence straight away.

Can I have a contact form or quote form on a static website?

Yes, static websites can have contact and quote forms. Instead of a database, the form uses a secure form service that sends each enquiry straight to your email inbox.

Can you put a map or location finder on a static website?

Yes, a map or directions buttons can easily be added to a static website. Our Google Maps links extra (£50) adds one-tap buttons that open your location in Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze, so customers can get directions straight to you.

Is it easy to add a blog to a static website later on?

Yes, you can add a blog or news section to a static website at any time. Send us your article and photos and we'll add them as new pages, laid out properly and ready for Google.

Can a static website handle videos and image galleries?

Yes, static websites display photo galleries and videos well. We compress your photos into modern formats so galleries load smoothly on phones, and videos can be embedded from YouTube or Vimeo without slowing the rest of your page.

Can I switch from WordPress to a static website easily?

Yes, you can move from WordPress to a static website. We copy across your text, optimise your images and keep your existing page addresses (or redirect them properly) so you keep the search rankings you have built up.

What is the difference between a website builder and a static site?

With a website builder such as Wix or Squarespace, you rent your website on a monthly subscription; a static website is made of files you own. A static site can be hosted almost anywhere, so you are never tied to one platform's prices or limits.

Will my website look the same on an Apple iPhone and a desktop computer?

Your website shows the same content on every device, with the layout adjusted to fit each screen. On an iPhone, sections stack neatly and buttons are large enough to tap; on a computer, content spreads out across the wider screen.

Can a static website be expanded into an e-commerce shop later?

Yes, a static website can be expanded to sell online later. We can add secure “Buy” buttons and checkout using services such as Stripe or Shopify. See our online shops page.
